A man has been arrested on felony drug charges after an encounter with police on Friday, Jan. 31, according to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.
During a routine patrol on State Highway 66, authorities say the Georgia State Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Dennis Earl Harper, 51, of Warne, N.C.
Probable cause was established, according to police, and officers requested assistance from the Towns County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.
A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia.
Harper was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession and use of drug-related objects.
