A man who accused his estranged wife of making online terroristic threats against him has been arrested for falsely reporting a crime.
On April 4, investigators took 41-year-old Kevin Gragg into custody after a month-and-a-half-long investigation, the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office says.
In mid-February, Gragg reported to authorities that he received several direct messages on Facebook from an account belonging to his soon-to-be ex-wife, Krissi Gragg. These messages included threats of violence and repeated abusive and profane language, according to authorities.
After serving search warrants on Facebook and Verizon Wireless and conducting interviews, investigators determined the Facebook account used to send the messages was faked. Detectives say it was created only days before the alleged threats were sent.
Evidence allegedly showed that the account’s creator had several ties to Kevin Gragg, including a cell phone number that was traced to within a short distance of his Lakemont, Georgia, home. Investigators say Gragg also tried to contact his estranged wife three times despite her having an active Family Violence Protection Order against him.
In addition to false reporting, deputies charged Gragg with violating the family protective order and booked him at the Rabun County Jail.
