Makhi Edgecombe signs his LOI with Mars Hill University

Tallulah Falls School senior Makhi Edgecombe will continue his academic and athletic career in North Carolina. The track & field standout thrower signed his Letter of Intent with Mars Hill University.

“I feel like the work and practice I have put in has finally paid off and as I further my athletic career I want to give all glory to God,” says Edgecombe.

Coach Scott Neal has seen firsthand the ingredients that have come together to make this possible for Edgecombe.

“Makhi diligently works every day, both in his own quest to get better and throw far, and in his connection with his throwing teammates,” says Neal. “He brings a passion to throwing, and has a sincere goal to help his throwing buddies set their own PR. He analyzes video, seeks to kinesthetically feel the correct throwing positions, and focuses on the task at hand.”

The ability to make his dream a reality is a result of hard work.

“Summer workouts, analyzing my technique, and always finding ways to get better are some of the work I’ve put in to be a competitive athlete,” adds Edgecombe.

Mars Hill had what he was looking for as to where he’d call home for the next several years.

“The environment, the coaches, my future teammates, and the communication and help through the process of making my decision made me feel like Mars Hill University was the right place for me,” he adds.

Edgecombe becomes the eighth TFS student-athlete to sign an LOI this academic year.

He is the 18th track and field athlete to go on to the next level. Edgecombe will be honored with all other senior signees in May 2024 at the second annual Next Level Signing Ceremony.
