Make it Two Golds for McKenzie Coan; 3 Events Remaining

Clarkesville’s two-time Paralympian McKenzie Coan continues to have a breakout performance in Rio’s Paralympics, earning her second gold medal in the last week. With four events down, Coan has three more shots to add to her medal count.

The 20-year-old swimmer took home the gold medal in the 50-meter freestyle in the S7 class on September 9, and on September 14 added another in the 400-meter freestyle. Coan set a Paralympic record of 32.42 in the 50-meter freestyle in the process.

Coan placed fifth in the 100-meter backstroke and sixth in the 50-meter butterfly in her other two events. Coan is back at it on Thursday, September 15 in the 4×100 freestyle relay, and finishes off her Rio Paralympics with the 100-meter freestyle and 4×100 medley relay on Friday.
