Hebrews 11:6, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
Often we hear the phrase, “I have faith in God…” but I’m not so certain we understand fully what those words involve. Many people believe there is a God, but the question is not necessarily belief but faith. Do you have faith in Him?
The value of faith in our lives is incomparable. It is the force within us to keep moving, to keep pushing through when the odds are stacked against us, and to find the finish line when no one believes it can possibly be found. Faith gives us courage.
Ephesians 6:16 tell us, “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”
I’ve often thought of hanging a sign above my kitchen door – “Faith – don’t leave home without it.”
Faith is our protection against evil. It is knowing that no matter what happens out in the world, God has our back. It is the courage to fight when the battle seems impossible to win because we know WHO is leading us. It is our first line of defense. Faith gives us protection.
Psalm 9:10, “Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.”
The other day I was reading a children’s book to my granddaughter, Mila. A phrase in the book reminded me of this scripture: “If you give a mouse a cookie, then he will want a glass of milk.” It is a funny book of what happens next when we do particular things. It reminded me of this scripture because when we TRUST in God He will… (you can fill in the blanks). Faith gives us limitless options.
Matthew 17:20, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
My grandmother use to tell me, “You only have to have the faith to know you can do it…” Confidence is key when we walk into any situation. Victory comes when we know that we know that we know WHO is with us. Faith moves mountains – faith stares impossible down and wins! Faith tells us, we are children of God and nothing can stand in our way when we seek Him.
