Tallulah Falls School continued its series of lunch and learn events on Nov. 20 with TFS parent Christopher Whitson, an anesthesiologist with Anesthesia Associates of Gainesville.
The series is designed to connect upper school students to career professionals, according to Upper School Academic Dean Kim Popham.
Whitson provided an overview of the profession, including an overview of educational requirements following high school graduation that a prospective anesthesiologist would require. He says it was a pleasure to speak with the students informally during their lunch. “I hope it was helpful to the students in considering their future goals and career aspirations.”
TFS senior Sarah Edwards of Sautee Nacoochee says she’s considering a medical career and really enjoyed learning more about it from Whitson. “I learned a lot; I am grateful there are people in our community who are willing to help us learn more about their profession.”
Other students say they enjoy the opportunity the lunch-n-learn sessions give them to explore potential career paths.
“I’m not currently interested in the medical field,” says senior Abby Peacock of Clarkesville, “but I think the opportunity to learn about different professions is very important to further determine what I would like to pursue as a career.”
Sophomore Emily Church of Clarkesville echoes that sentiment. “I’m not sure what career path I want to take so going to the session helped me explore different career options that I might want to consider in the future.”
10th District State Rep. Terry Rogers (R-Clarkesville) is among the guest speakers who’ve been featured this year during the TFS lunch career series.
