Lunar Eclipse

Howdy Habersham!

It was a battle against the clouds and terrible atmospheric conditions this morning in Dahlonega, but I was able to get some pics of the lunar eclipse. This made the first visible eclipse across any part of the region since 2010. The next eclipse will occur in September and we can always hope for better conditions. The pics below were captured through a 6″‘ Dobsonian telescope. Notice the “shimmer” across the disk, this was caused by strong winds in the mid/upper atmosphere which makes focusing difficult, but also results in the moon seeming to “twinkle” especially around the edges.
