Lumpkin County school bus driver faces allegations of inappropriate contact with student

A Lumpkin County school bus driver is facing charges after he was accused of having inappropriate contact with a student, according to the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office.

Donald Hupp, 39, was taken into custody earlier this week following an investigation by the sheriff’s office.

Authorities say the student was not one of the students on Hupp’s bus route, and the alleged incident did not take place on school grounds or on a school bus. As of Thursday, April 10, Hupp was charged with grooming of a minor, sodomy and inappropriate sexual contact between a school employee and a child.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police say there could be additional victims and charges pending.

“If you have a child that maybe rode Mr. Hupp’s bus, if they do talk to you about something that may be suspicious in nature, don’t go in depth interviewing that child,” Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said. “Just reach out to the sheriff’s office…I know you’re initial reaction is to start asking question, but when it comes to this investigation, that could harm us in the future.”
