Louise Lovell York

Louise Lovell York, age 98, of Demorest, Georgia, took her Heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia, on October 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Jackson and Myrtle Irene Ellison Lovell. Louise attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville as a child, where she accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized in a cold spring across the road from the church. She graduated from Clarkesville High School, Class of 1942, and was the last surviving member of her class.

Louise married Corbet York on September 01, 1943. She was a gardener and homemaker, worked in retail stores at A & D Foods, and retired from Hubert Lovell Co. Surveyors with 13 years of service. Although Louise retired on her 80th birthday, she continued to work part-time for another 2 years.

Following retirement, Louise began indulging in her first love of reading. She especially enjoyed a great mystery book and read a countless number of others. Louise was a member of Habersham Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 56 years, Corbet York; second husband, Corbett Hames, Jr.; son, Stanley York; brother, Hubert Lovell; son-in-law, Jerald Thomas; sister & brother-in-law, Carol and Wayne Popham; brothers-in-law, Gene Pardue and Donald Brown.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Gary Corbet and Velma York of Demorest, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Diane Thomas of Gray, GA; Rita Louise York Church and Anthony Church of Clarkesville, GA; Pamela Christie Hendrix and Rickie Hendrix of Demorest, GA; daughter-in-law, Pam York of Gainesville, GA; sisters, Sue Pardue and Jewell Brown; sister-in-law, Rowena Lovell all of Clarkesville, GA; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville, with Rev. Doug Porter officiating. Interment will follow in the V.F.W. Memorial Park Cemetery in Demorest.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday, May 18, 2024
