Lorene McCollum Segers, age 93, of Cornelia, Georgia, met her beloved husband at the Gates of Pearls on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
Mrs. Segers was born on January 31, 1924, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Daniel Alexander and Carrie Brownlow McCollum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Segers; sisters, Agnes M. Smith and Flonie M. Wooten; and brothers: Bill, Frank, John, Holbert, Price, and Walter McCollum. She was co-owner along with her husband and secretary of C & S Builder’s Supply. Mrs. Segers was an avid reader and gardener. She was a member of Cornelia Church of God and attended Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat Segers of Cornelia; special niece, Jan Wells of Buffalo, SC; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Bridges of Lavonia and Sheraldine Byrd of Lawrenceville; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special caregiver, Elaine Allen of Turnerville. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. James Gunn, Rev. Donald Grizzle, and Rev. Austin Ivester officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm the day of the funeral on Friday, January 12, 2018, at the funeral home.
