Local Students Awarded ORU Scholarships

Dillon Caudell of Habersham is among the area high school seniors who received scholarships from Habersham EMC this year.

Six graduating high school seniors were recently named recipients of the Habersham EMC Operation Round Up Scholarship Program.

The Operation Round Up scholarships are made possible by HEMC members who voluntarily have their electric bill rounded up to the next dollar. The resulting change not only supports scholarships but also provides grants for non-profit organizations, individuals and families. The total annual donation per member is only $6—a small amount for a big community impact.

Annually, the HEMC Foundation provides $500 to $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors at schools throughout the six-county service area. Congratulations to the 2016 recipients:

  • Resa Carroll, Rabun County High School
  • Dillon Caudell, Habersham Central High School
  • Davis Romario Mendez, Mountain Education (White)
  • Abigail Munoz, Mountain Education (Habersham)
  • Madison Pollitt, White County High School
  • Taylor Nicole Trimiar, Tallulah Falls School
