Qualifying for the May 24th General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election is over and eight incumbents face opposition in county-only races Habersham.
In all, 24 candidates qualified to run for countywide office — two non-partisan and 22 Republicans. One Democrat, Ted Childs, attempted to qualify for the District 1 Board of Education race but was deemed ineligible because, according to party officials, his residence is in District 5.
Incumbents face opposition in the race for Sheriff, Clerk of Superior Court, Chief Magistrate, Probate Judge, County Commission Districts 1 and 5, Board of Education District 1 and State Court Judge. Here’s the slate of candidates:
