Donnelly was one of several vendors who participated in a photo shoot which was held in the northwest Georgia town of Ranger. Photographer Genya O’Neall of Vue Photography in Atlanta captured Donnelly’s striking floral arrangements for a spread on modern rustic style weddings.

Weddings Unveiled is distributed throughout the southeast in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Virginia and the Carolinas and to subscribers nationally. Donnelly says she is “thrilled” to be included in the magazine.

Gertia Mae’s began in Clarkesville in 2003 as a walk-in/delivery floral shop. The business is named for Donnelly’s two grandmothers, Gertrude Burt and Mabel Mae Ferguson. Donnelly writes on her website that, “…both excelled naturally in floral arranging and gardening. It only made sense to honor the women I inherited my talents from.”

Gertie Mae's owner, Sherry Donnelly, named her floral design business after her two grandmothers from whom she says she inherited her talents.

In recent years Gertie Mae’s relocated from Clarkesville to Mt. Airy, shifting its focus from everyday designing to weddings and special events. “The interest in Gertie Mae’s wedding designs has exploded over the past few years, creating a new path full of opportunities,” writes Donnelly.

Gertie Mae’s still offers special occasion arrangements and Sunday church sanctuary flowers. A minimum order is required.
