The 911 Communications Center in White County says its non-emergency and administrative phone lines are working again following an outage. However, Habersham County’s E-911 Call Center is still experiencing intermittent problems.
The outage, first reported Thursday, is not affecting emergency calls. Habersham County Dispatch says anyone who needs to contact the agency should call 911 until the issue is resolved.
The non-emergency and administrative phone lines went down Thursday evening, leaving callers unable to hear dispatchers.
White County Public Information Officer Bryce Barrett says the issue appears to have been resolved there.
“After multiple test calls, it appears that non-emergency and administrative lines at the White County 911 Communications Center are back operational,” says Barrett.
The outage did not affect the emergency phone lines at either dispatch location. Anyone in need of emergency help should call 911 directly.
“We do advise if someone calls the non-emergency number and cannot hear us, hang up and reach us via 911,” Barrett says.
Banks County E-911 reported a similar problem with Windstream’s phone service on July 3. That issue has since been resolved.
