Members of the Piedmont College freshman class are again volunteering their time and artistic talents for the annual “Empty Bowls” event to fight hunger. Proceeds from the event will go to The Lord’s Help Soup Kitchen in Cornelia.
At 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30 in the Piedmont College Swanson Center, students will be serving soup and bread in hand-crafted bowls.
For a $15 donation, participants can pick out a bowl to keep and enjoy a simple supper donated by El Jinete Mexican Restaurant, Chartwells and Fender’s Diner. Also, Yonah Coffee in Demorest will be providing coffee and desserts.
Entertainment will be provided by Cantabile, the student a cappella ensemble, and Shticks and Giggles, a student improv troupe. Participants can also purchase raffle tickets for a stoneware vase created by Chris Kelly, chair of the Piedmont College Art Department.
Tickets can be purchased at the door, but space is limited. Advance tickets are available at https://www.piedmont.edu/empty-bowls.
