Local car dealer offers reward to find hit-and-run driver

A hit-and-run Thursday at a car dealership in Cornelia totaled a car on the lot and left the owner looking for justice.

Security camera footage captured the incident on tape. It shows a red flatbed truck veer off the main road onto the grass outside the Top Line Auto Brokers car lot at 896 North Main Street. The truck struck a parked Chevy Impala that was on display. The impact tore the front bumper and grill off the car, causing extensive — and expensive — damage.

“The vehicle is a total loss; $8,000 in total damage if not more,” says Top Line Auto owner Guillermo Perez.

The incident happened around 12:25 p.m. on April 22. An employee at the lot witnessed the crash and watched as the truck driver drove away.

Stunned by what he saw when he reviewed the tape, Perez is now offering a $500 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest. He also has a message for the hit-and-run driver: “Come forward because the police and the public are looking for you.”

Top Line Auto Brokers owner Guillermo Perez is asking for the public’s help to identify this driver. He’s offering a $500 reward.

Anyone with information should contact the Cornelia Police Department at (706) 778-4314.
