It was the moment they’d been preparing for three times weekly since March and their training paid off.
Six athletes from White County brought home six gold, a silver, and three bronze medals, collectively, from the State Special Olympics Games in Atlanta. The Games were held over two days – May 18th and 19th – at Emory University.
Robby Edge, Carter Cruce, C.J. McGuire, Nathan Anderson, Shaun Smith and Joey Rivard (pictured left to right, back to front) each competed in a running event and turbo javelin.
In addition to their ten medals, team members brought home two fourth place ribbons.
The athletes were accompanied by their families and coaches Sharon Brown, Shena Anderson and Joe Rivard.
