Lions earn No. 3 seed for upcoming CCS tournament

ATLANTA – Piedmont baseball has earned the No. 3 seed as The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced the full six-team, double elimination bracket for the second CCS Baseball Tournament that will take place May 8-11 at Scotland Yard on the campus of Maryville College.

The Lions take the No. 3 seed after a 12-6 conference record that saw them win four of the six conference series they played including sweeps of Covenant and Berea.

Piedmont will be looking to repeat after claiming the inaugural CCS Tournament last season, in which current infielder Kolton Hickswas named Tournament MVP.

The tournament will begin this Wednesday, May 8 as the Lions will battle No. 4 seed LaGrange in the third game of the opening day of the event, scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Lions took two out of three from the Panthers in the regular season series.

Piedmont is coming off losing 2-of-3 to host team and top-seeded Maryville over the weekend. However, the Lions rallied from a substantial deficit in the regular season finale and held on to win 8-7, salvaging a game in the series.
