Life in Motion: Trick-Or-Treat

Thousands turned out for Clarkesville’s annual Trick-Or-Treat on the Square Thursday. They walked in long lines past rows of businesses on Washington Street where employees handed out treats. There were so many trick-or-treaters this year that some businesses ran out of candy.

This year’s crowd was larger than usual because similar events were canceled in Demorest and Cornelia due to the threat of severe weather.

Severe storms did roll through Habersham County and other parts of northeast Georgia earlier in the day Thursday. Torrential rains and gusty winds knocked out power to thousands of homes and businesses.

The bad weather passed in time to give little (and big) monsters a chance to load up on enough candy to fuel their sugar rushes into next year.

Law enforcement estimates around 2,000 people turned out for the event.

Trick-Or-Treat on the Square is sponsored by the Clarkesville Business and Community Association.
