Firefighters from Hall County to Rabun County today stood on overpasses and roadsides honoring one of their own.

This afternoon, Chandler Patterson’s body was returned home from the state medical examiner’s office in Dekalb County in preparation for his funeral on Friday. The 27-year-old Rabun County native died in a boating accident over the weekend.

Patterson was an EMT and firefighter who served two years with the Gainesville Fire Department. He and his wife, Alyssa, wed three weeks before his death.

Patterson’s family will hold a celebration of life service on July 2 at the Rabun County High School Fine Arts Building in Tiger.
