White County High School Cafeteria Manager Brenda Freeman and her school nutrition crew in Cleveland helped out the Easter Bunny this year.

They boiled and dyed their Georgia grown eggs to place in the lunches the school system is providing for students at 13 different meal dispensing locations including a drive-thru at their middle school.

“I am so proud of the work they have done not only preparing the meals, but also working with our transportation staff to deliver them throughout the county. We are taking every precaution to practice No Contact Delivery and keep our social distance while delivering the meals,” reports Abby Rowland, Director of White County School Nutrition.

White County’s school nutritionists have prepared over 18,500 meals since March 16, 2020. Here Brenda Freeman (left) and Sherry Janoski prepare Easter eggs for the kids home lunches. (photo submitted)

White County Schools Superintendent Dr. Laurie Burkett said, “At the beginning of the year, I challenged our staff to BE MORE, and boy have they. Little did I know how profound that message would be for our staff, students and community during this time.”

Even though the pandemic has been tough in many ways, it’s things like this that bring our community together, and give us hope.
