Life in Motion: “Class act”

On Friday night, the Habersham Central Diamond Raiders took on the Franklin County Lions. Before the game, the two teams circled up centerfield to pray for Hadden Carswell.

Carswell, a varsity Raider, remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition after being injured in a wreck in Habersham County on Feb. 24.

HCHS Coach Chris Akridge captured this photo of the pregame prayer. He shared it on social media saying, “Class act by Franklin County tonight initiating a pregame prayer for Hadden. This meant so much to me and our team. Emotional end to an emotional week.”

65-year-old Hayward Cochran Jr. of Toccoa was killed in the wreck. He was buried on Saturday.

The game against Franklin County was the Raiders’ second since the tragedy. After losing to Forsyth in a shutout on Feb. 27 they went on to defeat the Lions, 6-4.
