Habersham County Emergency Services (HCES) personnel responded to a different kind of call Wednesday when they helped rescue a blind horse from a creek.
Emergency services director Chad Black says the horse fell into the water and got stuck. The owner was unable to get it out. The owner propped up the horse’s head with hay to keep it from drowning.
It took several attempts, but Black says HCES units were able to help the owner and a veterinarian on scene pull the animal to safety using a wide tow strap and tractor.
