Leon Coker, age 82, of Clarkesville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 02, 2024.
Born in Demorest, Georgia, on July 04, 1941, he was a son of the late Fred & Dallas Ellen Taylor Coker. Leon served his country proudly in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a graduate of North Georgia Technical College and worked as a mechanic for C.W. Matthews for many years before retirement. In his spare time, Leon enjoyed playing his guitar and singing for folks at the nursing homes. He was a member of Return Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Norma Jean Hester Coker, and brothers, Jerry Coker & Freddie Coker.
Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Teri Chambers Rice & Mark Rice of Dallas, GA; grandson, Josh Rice of Dallas, GA; sisters & brothers-in-law, Ellen & Roger Wilkes of Demorest, GA; Annette & David Eller of Clarkesville, GA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Leon’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Return Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
