Lee Roy Bowles, age 82 of Ila, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022.
Born on May 7, 1940, in Granville County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Hubert O’Brient Bowles and Rosa Lee Daniel Bowles of Vero Beach, Florida. Over the years, Mr. Bowles was employed as a Store Manager with Publix, and as a talented Master Carpenter. He was a devoted member of several Primitive Baptist Churches, most recently at Moriah Primitive Baptist Church in Danielsville, Georgia. He tremendously loved and cared for his entire family, along with his unquestioned caring nature for others in his life. Mr. Bowles is described as a selfless man, who placed the needs of others before his own, following God’s Commandment, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sophia Lyn Bowles; great-grandson, Conner Allen Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Linda Hassell Bowles of Ila; daughter, Sandra Dee Bowles of Ila; grandchildren, Colleen Ellen Davis of Athens, Georgia, James Lee McGovern (Christina) of Nicholson, Georgia, and Ceth Hannis of Washington, Georgia; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Bowles (Alice) of Texas, Dan Bowles (Fran), and Larry Bowles (Susan) all of Vero Beach, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen Harris (Amos) of North Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
