Law officers swarm streets of Toccoa in crackdown on drugs, violence

Federal, state, and local law enforcement swarmed the streets of Toccoa on Thursday to try and put a stop to a recent spate of violent crimes and drug activity in the city.

They executed consent searches and served arrest warrants. Seven people were arrested on drug charges.

The joint operation involved personnel from the Toccoa Police Department, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Department of Community Supervision, the Department of Corrections, GBI, and FBI Safe Street Task Force.

Everyone arrested is from Toccoa, according to information provided by the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).

37-year-old Mitchell Tate was arrested on South Sage Street for possession of cocaine.

36-year-old Manathon Colbert was arrested on Tatum Drive for possession of marijuana.

28-year-old Christopher Crumpler was arrested on Lovell Circle for possession of methamphetamine and providing a false name and date of birth

25-year-old Albert Bruce was arrested on Tower Road for possession of marijuana.

Three other suspects were all arrested on West Whitman Street, according to ARDEO Special Agent in Charge Mitchell Posey. 31-year-old Christopher Lacy was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. 36-year-old Amber Mosley and 34-year-old Alicia Peacock were both arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Posey says officers seized $400 worth of drugs.

All of those arrested were transported to the Stephens County Detention Center.
