If you see lots of police cars and law enforcement officers at North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville this week, don’t be alarmed. Officers from six jurisdictions will converge on the campus May 12 and 13 for two days of specialized training.
The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Level 1 sessions will include classroom training and an actual exercise conducted by the Georgia State Patrol Firearms Training Unit. A school spokesperson says campus buildings will be used in the exercise. Students are out of school this week on semester break.
The Clarkesville, Baldwin, Lavonia, Demorest and Cornelia Police Departments will participate in the training along with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
