
White County Lady Warriors took on the Pickens Dragonettes in the Region 6AAA Championship Saturday night, February 15, in Jasper.
In a standing-room-only crowd, The Warriors came out strong and fast with some back-to-back 3s in the first period giving them a 2-point lead into the second quarter.
In a game of back and forth, the Dragonettes would make a big move tying the game twice in the second but it would not be enough and the Warriors would take the half, 34-32, Warriors.
Coming out of the half, the Dragonettes would quickly push ahead by 4 points. White County would double down and bring the score within 1 point with 60 seconds in the third. A turnover would give Pickens 2 free throws, bringing the score to 46-43, Pickens at the end of three.
After withstanding a barrage from the Dragonettes early in the fourth, the Warriors would push even harder to tie the game twice. A double dribble turnover by The Warriors would lead to overtime tied at 54.
More back-and-forth shooting in overtime would cause the suspense to be felt everywhere. A strong push toward the end of overtime would disappoint Warrior fans and ultimately Pickens Dragonettes would win with a score of 64-59.
The Lady Warriors will play Tuesday night at home in the State tournament.
