The White County Lady Warriors took home a 47-44 win over the Dawson County Lady Tigers in the Region 7AAA tournament held over the weekend in Dahlonega.
The Lady Warriors started off with a 2-point lead from Aaliyah Anderson, followed by two more from Kylie Watkins.
The Tigers mounted a strong attack in the second period, forcing the Warriors to fight an uphill battle. White County went into the half down by one, 24-25.
White County regained the lead less than 60 seconds into the third period and would hold that lead despite a few more Twilight Zone officiating calls. At the end of the third, the score was 39-31 Warriors.
The Tigers mounted a final charge in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to just four points with only 30 seconds remaining in the game. The Tigers tried to mount a last-ditch effort but came up short by three points, with the Warriors clinching the victory, 47-44.
The No. 3 seed Lady Warriors next take on the No. 2 seed from Region 6, Ringgold, Tuesday night in the state playoffs.
