A 55-40 win by Hab Central over visiting Madison County Tuesday night gave the Lady Raiders their fifth straight victory heading into the Christmas break.
Playing four games in five days didn’t slow down the red-hot Lady Raiders, as the girls took down West Oak 61-32 on December 16, rivals Stephens County 57-32, Dawson County on the road 52-43, and Madison 55-40. The girls are now 12-3 on the season. Next up….region play.
The girls get 16 well-deserved days off from playing games, allowing them to rest up and get some good practices in before a January 6 date with Lanier in a Region 8-AAAAAA matchup.
Of the five straight wins, perhaps none was as impressive as Monday night’s 52-43 win over Dawson County in Dawsonville. Dawson had a 12-10 lead at the end of one quarter, and went into the locker room at the half with a 25-22 lead. An 11-5 run in the third quarter had the Dawson girls up 36-27 going into the final frame.
That’s when the Lady Raiders’ offense ignited. Habersham outscored Dawson County 24-6 over the final eight minutes to earn the 52-43 win. Of the three losses taken this season by Habersham, two have come to #8-ranked Chestatee and one to #5-ranked Franklin County. The region-opener against Lanier will prove to be a great matchup, as the #10 Lady Raiders oppose #6 Lanier.
