Lady Lions Volleyball Sweeps In-State Rival Agnes Scott College

Demorest, GA – The Piedmont College Volleyball team returned to Cave Arena Wednesday night and got back in the win column with a straight sets victory against Agnes Scott College. The Lady Lions (8-3) defeated the Scotties for the second time this season with both victories coming 3-0.

lady lionsThe first two sets were close with Piedmont winning 25-17 and 25-19 but the Lady Lions pulled away in the third set for a decisive 25-13 victory. In that final set, the Lady Lions held the Scotties to a negative attack percentage.

Kaitlin Norman tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 11 digs and 10 kills, getting the tenth kill in one of the final serves of the match. Just behind Norman with 10 digs was freshman Kendele Donaldson.

Last year’s leader in assists Xandy Green jumped back in her position with a team-high 21 assists while Kait Steele added 13. Steele leads the team this season with 190 assists.

The Lady Lions recorded 39 kills as a team, tied for second most all season, and the same number from this seasons previous meeting with Agnes Scott.

Piedmont has now won an impressive 23 straight against Agnes Scott since the NCAA era began in 2003 and lost only three sets during that span, making it a 69-3 lead for PC.

The Lady Lions will begin the USA South conference schedule this weekend as they take part in a tri-match at Huntingdon College. First up for Piedmont will be the host team, the Hawks, on Saturday at noon. PC will then face LaGrange College for the second time this season at 2 p.m.
