Pine Mountain, GA – The Piedmont College women’s golf program wrapped up its participation in the Calloway Collegiate on Sunday with three Lady Lions competing as individuals in the event. The tourney was hosted by Berry College at Lakeview Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Georgia and is the first event for the Lady Lions in the spring of 2015.
Ashton Mamulaled PC with her 83 in round two cutting 14 strokes off her first round score to move up 14 spots on the leaderboard. Mamula (97-83–180) finished in a tie for 53rd, the Lady Lions’ top individual finisher, as the sophomore shared the spot with Sheridan D. Robinson of St. Andrews University as she also competed in the event as an individual.
The field was led by Mary Frances Hall of Washington & Lee as Hall posted a two-day total of 149 (74-75) to move up from 2nd after day one to a title following day two. However, her team had the exact opposite showing slipping from the top spot after the first round on Saturday to finish 2nd behind Dalton State who won the team portion with a 317-317–634.
Washington & Lee finished just two strokes back of the winners tacking on ten strokes to its first-round score to post a 323 on day two.
Piedmont’s day one leader, Malorie Smith, carded a 91 for the second day in a row to finish in a two-way tie for 56th with Elizabeth Leavitt of Methodist University. The Monarchs put two teams into the field while 14th ranked Huntingdon College also represented the USA South in the field finishing 8th of the 11 teams in the field – Methodist’s 1st team placed in a tie for 4th.
Shaving eight shots off her first day score was Cortney Boggs who fired a 91 after posting a 99 the day before. Boggs finished 68th of the 81-player field.
Piedmont will be back in action in three weeks when the Lady Lions are set to compete in the Emmanuel College Invitational held at Cateechee Golf Course in Hartwell, Georgia. The event will take place over two days from Monday, March 23 to Tuesday, March 24
