In a winner-take-all for Region 8-A DI, the Lady Indians edged out Rabun County Friday at home, 3-2. That garners TFS its first-ever region crown for girls soccer.

Jenna Chesser scored twice in the second half and assisted LB Kafsky in the game’s lone first-half tally.

After Rabun equalized early in the second half, the Lady Indians responded with about 27 minutes to go when Chesser scored off a pass from Maddie LeBlanc. With 17 and change on the clock, Chesser scored again off an assist by Bailey Crumley to go ahead. The defense locked it down the rest of the way, and Kyndal Anderson notched 13 saves.

“I have never in my life seen girls work as hard as mine did tonight,” says coach Erin Jimenez. “This is the most incredible group of girls I’ve ever seen, and I am so grateful to be their coach. They wanted it, they worked for it, and they deserve it. We’re far from finished.”

#6-ranked TFS moves to 10-4 and will host Prince Avenue Christian in the first round next week in the state playoffs.

The Lady Indians honored their ten seniors after the game – Adrijana Albijanic, Anderson, Chesser, Lily Desta, Tessa Foor, Maddie LeBlanc, Lucia Luceno, Iva Ristic, Aidan Woodside, and Manager Jane Ibemere.
