Tallulah Falls among a half dozen local teams to advance to the next round of state playoffs
The Tallulah Falls Lady Indians made the most of their first-ever playoff game, winning 56-53 in a nailbiter over Savannah City Day on the home court Friday.
The Lions (18-10) were led by Nyah Williams (20 pts), Katy Corbett (15 pts), and Lillie Free (13 pts). They now move on to face Calvary Day in the next round.
TFS was one of ten state playoff matchups involving local teams Friday. Of those, six advanced to the Sweet 16 with impressive wins.
Here’s a rundown of how other local teams did in first round playoff action on Friday:
BANKS COUNTY LADY LEOPARDS
The Lady Leopards (23-6) went on the road and blasted Bremen, 52-29 to advance to the Sweet 16 yet again. Banks will travel to Douglas for the second round matchup next week.
COMMERCE LADY TIGERS
The Lady Tigers (14-12) came so close to advancing to the Sweet 16, but fell just short, 43-40 at Emmanuel County Institute to end their season.
DAWSON COUNTY LADY TIGERS
The Lady Tigers (21-8) used 32 points by Kaylee Sticker to grab a 71-60 win over Coahulla Creek on the road to advance to the Sweet 16! Marlie Townley added 14 and Maddie Anglin 11. Sticker is now the all-time leading scorer at Dawson. The girls will travel to face #1-seed Lovett in the next round.

RABUN COUNTY LADY WILDCATS
The Rabun County Lady Cats (27-1) earned their 25th win in a row, 83-43 over Heard County at home. Brooke Henricks (20 pts), Laken Stiles (18 pts), and Georgia Stockton (10 pts) all reached double figures. FULL HIGHLIGHTS
STEPHENS COUNTY INDIANS
The Indians (17-11) used leadership from a few guys to punch a ticket to the Sweet 16 with a big 62-59 win over Troup County. Takias Nails had 20, while Kenny Colwell added 15, and Ty Nails 12. Stephens moves on to face #1-seed Denmark in the second round.
TOWNS COUNTY LADY INDIANS
The Lady Indians (14-12) advanced to the Sweet 16 with relative ease, cruising to a 76-46 win over Lanier County. Towns County advances to face Calhoun on the road next week.
UNION COUNTY PANTHERS
The Panthers fell 69-53 at Spencer to close their season in the first round. Union County (17-11) rallied from 21 down to close within six, but would get no closer. Pierson Allison led with 19 points, while Cayden Rich (12 pts) and Sawyer Drake (11 pts)
WHITE COUNTY LADY WARRIORS
The Lady Warriors dropped a heartbreaker, 63-54 at NW Whitfield to close the season at 14-12 overall. Dasha Cannon led with 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.
