A Christmas tree with toys underneath is not always possible for every family in Habersham County. With the help of The Kiwanis Club of Habersham County’s Toys for Kids program, it is. The Kiwanis Club is preparing for a big season of giving this year, anticipating approximately 600 children from Birth through 5th grade to receive gifts this year.
Families in need can pick up an application at all of the Elementary Schools of Habersham County Schools, the Board of Education, Habersham Head Start, Sharing and Caring in Clarkesville (Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.) and in Cornelia (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.), and the United Way office.
The deadline to apply is Friday, November 10th. Parents with children in Habersham County Schools or Head Start should turn in their applications at their child’s school. Parents with children who reside in Habersham who are not yet school age or are in other schools should turn in their applications to the Board of Education, Sharing and Caring, or United Way.
Parents will be notified by letter after December 1st as to the status of their application. For questions about applications, please contact the Habersham County Schools Social Work Department at 706-894-3055.
