The Cornelia Police Department needs the community’s help. From Baldwin, Cornelia, and Mt. Airy, to Toccoa and Rabun County, a string of automobile thefts are occurring. The vehicles are either being broken into or stolen.
Chief Jonathan Roberts explained, “Apparently there is a Tik Tok challenge to steal Kia vehicles. The Tik Tok video describes exactly how to break into the KIAs that require a hard key.”
The video claims the vehicles are conveniently easy to break into and gives a step-by-step guide to accomplishing it.
Cornelia Police Department is working with other agencies to see if there is a relationship between the thefts. Please see the Now Habersham article recently posted on vehicle break-ins and stolen vehicles.
Please check your residential camera systems! If anyone has any suspicious activity to report, please call Lt. Bartholomew at 706-778-3911.
