
Kevyn Josue Garfias-Hilagor, age 17, of Commerce, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Kevyn was born on March 13, 2008, in Athens, to Oscar Garfias and Rosario Hilagor. He was a rising Junior at Banks County High School and was employed with Jalapeno Mexican Restaurant. Playing the guitar, video gaming, playing soccer, singing, dancing, and spending time with family and friends were some of the things that Kevyn enjoyed most. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Athens.
Survivors include his father, Oscar Garfias (Claudia Montenegro-Avalos); mother, Rosario Hilagor; brother, Oscar Alexander Garfias; sisters, Carina Itzel Garfias-Hilagor, Perla Leticia Garfias-Hilagor, Claudia Ithzary Garfias-Hilagor, and Daisy Vanesa Garfias-Hilagor; grandparents, Francisca Benitez Fajardo, Remigio Garfias Delgado, Angelina Baez, and Antonio Hilagor; nephews, Leonardo Jesus Albarran-Garfias, Lamberto Mondragon Garfias, and Ammy Yamileth Mondragon Garfias; numerous other extended relatives and many friends.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Clarkesville, with Father Raul de Leon officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the funeral home, with a rosary to begin at 7 pm.
