An early morning traffic stop in Cornelia on May 31 led police to file drug trafficking charges against a Kentucky woman.

According to the Cornelia Police Department, Officer John Maney conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highway 441 and Level Grove Road around 1 a.m. last Wednesday. He pulled over a Chrysler 300 C driven by Brittany Woliver.

“During this traffic stop, Officer Maney noticed what appeared to be two syringes ‘loaded’ with illegal narcotics,” the police department says.

The discovery led police to search Woliver’s vehicle. During that search, police say they discovered roughly a pound and a half of suspect methamphetamine, liquid methamphetamine, and another controlled substance in liquid form, which they did not identify.

Officers also seized an undisclosed amount of cash from the vehicle.

Police arrested Woliver and charged her with trafficking methamphetamine, no insurance, suspended registration, driving on a suspended license, and possession of a controlled substance.

A judge denied her bond. As of early Tuesday, June 6 Woliver remained in the Habersham County Detention Center.
