After serving a quarter of a century as Chairman of the Cornelia Municipal Planning Board, Jay Kennedy has stepped down from the job. Kennedy submitted his resignation in July. Cornelia Mayor John Borrow and the City Commissioners recognized him for his many years of service during their August City Commission meeting.

Kennedy is moving to Cherokee County to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. He previously retired from Cornelia Bank/Community Bank as a Senior Vice President and trust officer managing the Trust and Financial services department.

“Mr. Kennedy will be missed by the Planning Commission. He was dedicated to helping Cornelia grow into what it is, and he is one of the citizens responsible for helping the city accomplish its goals,” says Cornelia Community Development Manager Jessie Owensby. “We appreciate his service and dedication to our city, and we wish him the best in his new adventure!”
