The jury has found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on all the counts he faced over the death of George Floyd. Jurors returned the verdict Tuesday after more than ten hours of deliberation over two days.

Jurors convicted Chauvin of second-degree murder and two other charges in Floyd’s death. He was remanded to the custody of Hennepin County and led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.

The maximum sentence for second-degree murder is 40 years in prison, but Minnesota sentencing guidelines suggest he’s more likely to receive up to 15 years, ABC News reports.

Video of the fatal encounter shows Chauvin kneeling with his knee on Floyd’s neck for more than 9 minutes as Floyd begged for air. The case sparked a summer of protests across the United States including here in Georgia.
