Judy Denise Burney Hightower, age 59 of Homer, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020.
Born in Orlando, Florida on July 22, 1960, she was a daughter of Bernice Messer Burney of Orlando, Florida, and the late Hayward Burney. Mrs. Hightower was a Correctional Officer with Lee Arrendale State Prison for a number of years. She loved her family and grandchildren, was a nature lover, enjoyed camping and spending time at the beach.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen P. Hightower; sister, Pamela Jackson.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Michael & Jennifer Hightower of Carrabelle, Florida, Josh Hightower of Homer; daughter, Lilith Hightower of Lula; grandchildren, Alexus Lynn Mort, Laura Hightower, Stephen Hightower, Nathan Hightower; great-grandchild, Vladimir Brock; brother, Larry Burney of Lake Wales, Florida; sisters, Debbie Burney, Regina Burney, and Cindy Burney all of Orlando, Florida; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm, Monday, June 22, 2020, at Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Shannon Irvin and Pastor Donald Grizzle officiating. Services will be live-streamed for anyone that cannot attend.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:30 prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
