On February 16, 2016 newly-appointed Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Christian and staff presented Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Brian Rickman with a gavel and sound block. Judge Rickman served as District Attorney for the Mountain Judicial Circuit before being appointed to the appellate bench by Governor Nathan Deal in December 2015.

The gavel and striker plate were handmade by Rabun County woodworker Scot Roberge and were fashioned from a white oak tree that was brought down during the April 27, 2011 Lake Burton tornado.

The presentation was made at the State Capitol following Christian’s swearing-in ceremony in the governor’s office.
