Joyce White Shubert, age 78, of Lula, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
Born on February 15, 1945, in Lula, she was a daughter of the late John J. White and Myra Phillips White. Mrs. Shubert retired after 31 years of service as the City Clerk of Gainesville, and she was the first woman City Clerk in Gainesville. After her retirement, she worked for 15 years at the Hall County Elections Office. Joyce loved her family and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Swayne Shubert; brothers, J. L. White, Clarence “Buster” White, Jewell White, and Doyle White; sisters, Annie Mae Smith and Ethelene Hooper.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Shina Shubert of Alto; grandchildren, Lauren Shubert and John Shubert of Alto; sisters, B. J. Tjepkema of Gainesville and Francine Westbrook of Baldwin; sisters-in-law, Brooksy White and Elaine White, and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Rock Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Wilson and Rev. Derek Howard officiating.
Visitation will immediately follow the service.
