Jonathan “Jack” Lawhon

Jonathan “Jack” Lawhon, age 87, of Statesboro, Georgia formerly of Savannah, Georgia, and Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020.

Mr. Lawhon was born on July 4, 1933, in Ayden, North Carolina to the late Herbert and Louise Hooks Lawhon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Joann Tew Lawhon. Mr. Lawhon was a United States Marine Veteran, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Jack was a man of God and loved his family very much. He was retired from American Cyanamid/Kemira with over 30 years of service. Jack was known by his grandchildren as “Papa”.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Pamela Lawhon, of Savannah; son, Jeffrey Lawhon, of Lexington, SC (Laura Burke of Greenwood, SC); daughter, Judy Oliver, of Statesboro; grandsons, Ryan Lawhon, of Reno, NV and Carey Lawhon, of Lexington, SC; sisters, Betty Dunn, of Savannah; Jane Humphries, of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.

An Interment will be held at Yonah Memorial Gardens will military honors provided by the United States Marines, VFW Post 7720, American Legion Post #84, and the Rabun County DAV #15.
