Joan Brenda Allen White, age 79, of Cornelia, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
Born on November 15, 1942, in Demorest, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Allen and Carrie Sybel Irvin Allen. Joan managed textile mills for Outerwear, Academy Garment Company and Gillsville Manufacturing and later retired as a bookkeeper for Yearwood Logging. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, singing, playing the guitar, cooking, and reading. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sister, Ruthie Allen Irvin.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Danette White Canfield (Scott) of Lavonia, and Andrea White Irvin (Drew) of Baldwin; grandchildren, Kayla Leverette (Brandon), Meagan Lovell, Abby Irvin, Maggie Irvin, and Jack Irvin; great-grandchildren, Evan Leverette and Bryan Leverette; brother and sister-in-law, Keith Allen (Teresa) of Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Jo Beth McConnell (William) of Clarkesville; brother-in-law, Bobby Irvin of Baldwin; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart, with Rev. Dennis Dills officiating. Interment will follow in Victory Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Shane Jenkins officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 8 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
