Jimmy W. Wade, age 72, of Alto, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
Mr. Wade was born on December 30, 1951, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Odell and Edna Mae Darnell Wade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Jo Ann Hix Wade; sister, Shirley Duncan; brother, Johnny Wade; nephew, Tim Kaminski; brother-in-law, John Thompson.
Jimmy dedicated over 25 years of his life to Wrigley’s Manufacturing. He was a member of Good News Baptist Church, the church where he accepted the Lord Jesus into his heart. Outside of his professional and spiritual pursuits, Jimmy enjoyed shooting pool, throwing horseshoes, playing H-O-R-S-E, and throwing ball. He was an avid Georgia Football fan and enjoyed watching the Braves. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family, which he cherished every moment. He was known as “Papa” to his grandchildren and created lasting memories with each of them. One of Jimmy’s greatest joys was the companionship of his loyal dog, Lilly. Their bond brought joy and comfort to both, showcasing the special connection between man and his furry friend. Jimmy will be fondly remembered for his ability to bring smiles and laughter to those around him. His sense of humor was infectious, leaving a legacy of joy and happiness.
Survivors include son, Mark Wade, of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Karsen Wade and Cody Wade; sister, Sandy Thompson, of Alto; nephew, Michael Thompson; niece, Gracie Thompson; other family members; and his beloved dog, Lilly Wade.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Scott Ledbetter and Pastor Austin Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Alto Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the funeral home.
