Graveside services for Jessie Wendolyn Bowman Hill, age 76, of Clarkesville will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Park in Demorest. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.

Mrs. Hill passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.

Born on February 16, 1941 in Smith County, Tennessee, Mrs. Hill was the daughter of the late Herman Bowman and Beulah Smith Bowman Harp. Mrs. Hill attended Gordonsville High School in Gordonsville, Tennessee and she was named Miss Gordonsville at the age of 15. She married to Donald Eugene Hill of Clarkesville in 1956. She attended North Georgia Technical College and was a paraprofessional and computer lab manager for Habersham County Board of Education working her entire career at Clarkesville Elementary. Mrs. Hill had a heart for children. She and her husband Donald, not having children of their own, were instrumental in the raising of several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other family. Mrs. Hill enjoyed crafts and painting, sewing and making her own dresses, and fishing with her husband. She was a member of Hills Crossing Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by sister Shirley Bowman Kemp, brother Alton Bowman, half brother David Bowman and half sister Charlotte Bowman Givens.

Survivors include her husband Donald Eugene Hill of Clarkesville, sister Vivian Bowman Allen, half sister Brenda Bowman Thrower of Carthage, TN, half brother Roger Bowman of Carthage, TN, brother in law David Verner Hill of Clarkesville, sisters in law Sandra Hill Meeks of Clarkesville, Grace Hill Hill of Mt. Holly, NC and Mary Ruth Fuller of Gastonia, NC, special niece Heather Meeks Taylor her husband Tim Taylor and their daughters Madison and Abigail Taylor of Cornelia, many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and some great great nieces and nephews in Georgia and Tennessee.
