Jenkins Releases 2018 Piedmont Track & Field schedule

Piedmont track and field head coach Jeff Jenkins has announced his 2018 indoor and outdoor schedule earlier this week.

Both the men’s and women’s programs will compete together in 11 events this season. To view the complete schedules click here for the men and here for the women. A majority of events for Piedmont will involve NCAA Division I, II and III schools.

Joining Jenkins on the staff this season will be graduate assistant Aaron Anderson. Anderson will begin his first season with the Lions and will oversee throws while also assisting Jenkins in all facets of the program. BT Pham will begin his second season as a graduate assistant for Jenkins and will oversee sprints and jumps for the program.

Indoor
Both programs open the season on January 21 in Birmingham, Ala. for the Emory CrossPlex Invitational. This season will mark the third time that the track and field program will make the trip to Birmingham for the event. The CrossPlex has a 200 meter hydraulically banked track and is one of seven in the United States and one of ten in the world. To read more about the CrossPlex, click here.

Piedmont will then travel to Johnson City, Tenn. on February 2-3 to compete in the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by Division I East Tennessee State University for the second consecutive season before traveling to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the JDL College Team Challenge.

PC will then close out its indoor schedule with a trip back to the CrossPlex in Birmingham for the Southern Challenge, hosted by Birmingham Southern.

Outdoor
Piedmont will begin its outdoor schedule on March 3 with a trip to Rome, Ga. to compete in the Victor Icebreaker Duals hosted by Berry College. In the following week, the Lions will travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Coastal Carolina Invitational, hosted by Division I Coastal Carolina.

After taking a week off, Piedmont heads to Alabama for the Falcon Classic hosted by University of Montevallo on March 23-24 before returning to Georgia to take part in the Emory Invitational in Atlanta. The Lions open April with the Berry Field Day Invitational in Rome, Ga.

The final multi-division event for PC will take place in Cullowhee, N.C. as Division I Western Carolina hosts the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic. This season will make four straight seasons that the Lions have participated in this event.

PC will close the season with the Atlantic Independent Championships hosted by Berea College on April 27-28. Last season, the men and women each placed second for the meet.
