Jeffery Allen Cates, age 67, of Cleveland, entered heaven Monday, November 6, 2023, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, with his family by his side.
Jeffery was born September 26, 1956, in Miami, Florida, to the late Bertrum William & Dorinda Marie Johnson Cates. He had a busy career working in Law enforcement with the Oakwood Police Department, Hall County Corrections & RYDC. He also drove a concrete truck with Thomas Concrete & Candler Concrete, as well as a couple of others. He loved the outdoors with a passion. He loved fishing, but deer hunting was his favorite. He would go on his mountain home porch every morning with his coffee to survey the deer in his yard. As much as he loved hunting, he loved his family more than anything. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tina Cates & a brother, Ronnie Cates.
Left to cherish his memory, wife, Deloris Cates; children, Jeffery Miles, Tiffany Greer, Melissa (John) Harris, Terri (Marvin) Loggins, Michelle (Jimmy) Brassfield & Rita (Jeff) Callahan; beloved Papa RaRa to his grandchildren, Abigail, Victoria & Bridget Hazelrig, Shelby & Will Harris, Erica, Kimberly, Justin & Lexi Loggins, Adriana & Brycen Greer, Ja-Vohn Hutchins, Brandon Vincent & Jeremy Pierce, Frances, Dalton & Robby Miles; great-grandchildren, Peyton & Stormy Pierce; brother, Randy Cates; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Per his wishes, a celebration of life will be held at Vogel State Park.
