Jefferson (Jeff) Carl Moore, age 75, of Turnerville, Georgia, took his heavenly flight to be with the Lord surrounded by this family on August 27, 2023, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Jeff was born March 31, 1948, in Turnerville, Georgia, and was the son of the late Carl Jefferson Moore and the late Pauline Whitfield Moore. Jeff was a 1966 graduate of North Habersham High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Jeff completed his electrical studies at North Georgia Technical College. He worked for the Georgia Power Company as a power plant operator in the North Georgia Hydro Group. He retired in 2010 after 32 years of service. Jeff was a loving husband, dedicated father, and Papa to his grandchildren. He served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Shirley Grove Baptist Church. He found joy in teaching in the children’s program and vacation bible school. In addition to family and faith, he loved woodworking and the outdoors, creating furniture and hunting in his free time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Stewart and Linda Griffith.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Sharon DeMore Moore of Turnerville, Ga; son and daughter-in-law, Calter and Lauren Moore of Gainesville, Ga; daughter and son-in-law, LaDonna and Luke Canup of Turnerville, Ga; sister, Frances Hudson of Mt. Airy, Ga; sister, Margaret (Ray) Loudermilk of Mt. Airy, Ga; sister, Joyce Owens of Gainesville, Ga; brother, Gene (Gladys) Moore of Lyerly, Ga, grandchildren, William Moore, Callie Moore, Towns Canup, and Etrulia Canup.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Shirley Grove Baptist Church, 771 Shirley Grove Road, Clarkesville, Georgia, with the Rev. Kenneth Franklin and Ronald DeMore officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with the Rev. Bill Gravley officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
